I knew it could go either way, especially as I continued reading and found out our heroine was studying to be a social worker. I knew I was in for a book that would hit me where I “live” when I read this: The tension was palpable, the feels, omg, the feels! ‘Steadfast’ slayed me! This book! I finished a couple of days ago and I am still thinking about it. I was provided a review copy this did not influence my opinion of the book.Ī heart pounding, tension-filled, emotional ride! No one wants to see Sophie and Jude back together, least of all Sophie's police chief father. But the looks he sends her now speak volumes. She knows it’s foolish to yearn for the man who returned all the heartsick letters she wrote him in prison. And he’d never turn up volunteer in the church kitchen. The bad boy who used to love her didn’t have big biceps and sun-kissed hair.

It’s hard not to stare at how much he’s changed. But an ex-con in recovery for his drug addiction can’t find a job just anywhere.įor Sophie Haines, coming face to face with the man who broke her heart is gut-wrenching. He’d steer clear of Colebury, Vermont forever if he could. A man is dead, and there's no way he can ever right that wrong.

Jude lost everything one spring day when he crashed his car into an apple tree on the side of the road. She’s the only one who ever loved him-and the only one he can never have. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the mood for a light, fun, low llama-drama read. Also in this series: Bittersweet, Keepsake, Bountiful,

This was my second Sarina Bowen book and I just love how authentic her characters are and they have real world problems as a main source of conflict. So even if you’re athletically challenged like me and don’t follow sports you can still enjoy it. It’s a sports romance but kind of sports adjacent seeing as the Hero owns the hockey team but doesn’t play (so you don’t have to hear the term “puck-bunny” even once and throw up in your mouth). The sex scenes are steamy and real with no dick poetry the Hero is just described as being thick and hard can you believe it ?Īnd the Heroine during one scene basically had this internal dialogue about how fucking tired her thighs were getting while she was on top The Heroine is a super hard-worker with a great sense of humor but not too quirky. The Hero is a tech nerd and he’s rich but not in a “Christian Gray I’m gonna buy you all my favorite things like Oprah and make all your problems go away” kind of way. I’ve been sitting on it for a while because the cover is SO cringey but really DON’T be like me and judge this book by its cliche cover.īrooklynaire is a friends to lovers but also a super rich boss/assistant trope with a slow burn (but not like Mariana Zapata slow). I had a shit eating grin on my face the whole time reading this book.
